Located in Hunsley Hills in Canyon, Texas, Palo Duro Creek Golf Course is just a short and scenic 10-minute drive from the city of Amarillo. Owned by the city of Canyon, the golf course offers daily green fees, as well as yearly passes. There are a number of regular tournaments including a Tuesday- and Friday-Night Couples competition, the Thursday-Night Scramble, and a Women’s Night.
Palo Duro Creek Golf Course is a superbly -designed 18-hole regulation course designed by Henry Hughes of Colorado, a highly respected golf-course architect. The front nine holes were constructed in 1959, with holes sitting on both sides of Palo Duro Creek. The back nine holes were completed a few years after and snake their way through the handsome homes of Hunsley Hills.
Palo Duro Creek Golf Course is regarded as one of the most playable, but challenging, courses in the entire Texas Panhandle. Palo Duro Creek is a par-72 course with an array of tees, ranging from 5,800 to 6,900 yards in length, that will test your skill. A challenging and enjoyable course, water from Palo Duro Creek supplies hazards on all but four holes. The tees and fairways are made up of Bermuda grass with the greens being covered with bentgrass and Poa annua.
Amenities include a fully-staffed clubhouse with a restaurant and snack bar along with a pro shop that carries all the latest golfing equipment and merchandise. The Double Eagle Grill and More serves a varied menu that includes hamburgers, hot dogs, and tacos along with a full complement of beverages. The course has a driving range and a practice green along with a full fleet of golf carts.
